Gene Patent Lawsuit Moves On!
A US district court has denied a motion by the US Patent and Trademark Office, Myriad Genetics, and the University of Utah Research Foundation to dismiss a lawsuit brought against them by the ACLU. The suit challenges the legality and constitutionality of patenting the BRCA genes, associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer
syndrome. Further proceedings will begin in December.
